STEPHAN TANNER

BOARD MEMBER / EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR NORTH AMERICA

Swiss-born American architect Stephan Tanner has over three decades of experience with high-performance real estate development, planning and design around the globe. His professional interest, combined with his passion for people and their unique ways, has led him to gain true international knowledge and local understanding. Having been part of the leading edge energy efficient building industry – Mr. Tanner lead the design and construction of the 1st certified Passive House in North America – Mr. Tanner’s vision and leadership are the foundation of the global 2000-Watt Society Institute.

Board Member / Executive Director Europe

Mr. Sigg graduated from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, at the University of Zurich and at the Carlson School of Management (USA). For decades, Mr. Sigg has worked on real estate projects in Europe and around the world. His consulting activities comprise strategy and process consulting for private companies and the public sector with a comprehensive inclusion of innovative sustainability and climate-change initiatives. In various projects he demonstrated his management ability of large and complex projects with the involvement of various stakeholders. His insight and understanding of energy and carbon in the real estate industry are the foundation of the global 2000-Watt Society Institute.

joel Schurke

Board Member / North America

Mr. Schurke is part of the executive leadership team of the University of Minnesota Physicians serving as Vice President, Real Estate & Facility Operations. Joel has broad real estate experience including strategic facility planning, design and construction, building performance metrics, facility condition surveys, operations planning, leasing and asset management. Joel carries his passion for sustainable planning and construction in his current role as well as in prior roles where he served as Director of Engineering and Maintenance for Park Nicollet Health Services, Director of Development for Ryan Companies with focuses in the healthcare and hospitality markets and as leader of sustainable design and healthy-building initiatives for LHB Engineers and Architects and Cuningham Group. In 2001, Joel co-authored Sustainable Design, a professional monograph of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) Professional Monograph, Washington, DC.

 
 
 

Roland Stulz

Board Chair

Mr. Stulz is the former Executive Director of Novatlantis, the center for sustainability at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. Under his leadership, Novatlantis translates cutting-edge technology research into practical sustainability applications. The founder of Intep Integrated Planning, Mr. Stulz has been involved in leading-edge energy and sustainability work since 1978 in Switzerland, Europe and around the world. Mr. Stulz was the Co-founder of the 2000-Watt Society in Switzerland in 2000.
